Musical Director

Jacqueline Larsen

Jacqueline - known as Jaq (and never Jacqui!) - has been directing choirs for over 20 years, starting while at University in Edinburgh.

Whether she's fine tuning small vocal ensembles or running traffic control for choirs of over 100, Jaq believes her 'state of flow' is found when her arms are raised in front of a group of singers. She is a passionate and energetic director with a strong sense of performance and showmanship.

Jacqueline took on the direction of Sound Avenue in 2021 (when they were still Inversion), having been a singer with the group since 2017, and brought it under the administrative banner of Soul Song Choirs, a network of choirs that Jacqueline founded in 2010 while in Cairns.  She currently manages four ensembles within Soul Song (Cairns, Brisbane x 2 and Viral) and is also the director of Moorooka District Community Choir.

Before she moved into directing choirs as a full time job, Jaq had over 20 years experience as a professional event producer.  This back stage insight, combined with extensive on stage experience as a solo and ensemble performer, means that she brings a unique perspective to all Inversion productions and performances.

Jacqueline is a natural presenter and regularly delivers workshops on singing and creative thinking as she works to inspire others to find their voice.  She has also run numerous choir and performance workshops as well as  'pub choir' style pop up singing events at festivals and conferences, including the Festival of Voices in Hobart.

Jaq is available to deliver workshops and coaching sessions with other vocal groups and also to deliver corporate and festival singing workshops.
